Think of a time that you had to deliver some difficult feedback to someone.

2Assignment #1: Scripture

Reading Assignment

Read Proverbs 3:5 and answer the following questions.

What word or phrase stands out to you about this verse? Why?

Describe how you feel this verse helps to guide your decision making. Do you struggle with giving it over to God before you act or decide?

When last minute changes are presented to you, how do you respond?

On a scale of 1-5, rate yourself on your flexibility. (1 being not flexible at all and 5 being very flexible) If you are below a 5, how does that make you feel? How can putting your complete trust in God affect your flexibility with last minute changes or bad news?

3Assignment #2: Article Reading

Article Assignment

Read the article "5 Healthy Ways to Handle a Difficult Volunteer" by Carey Nieuwhof and answer the questions that follow.

What are some characteristics you think defines a 'difficult volunteer?'

Returning back to the opening question of this module, how would the steps in this article would have helped you feel more confident about that conversation?

Which of the 5 steps that Carey outlines do you feel would be the most difficult? Which do you feel is the most important? Why?

Discuss some stressful situation or last-minute changes that can happen during the Sunday service. Choose one of those situations and role play within the group how that would play out. Demonstrate the wrong way to handle that situation and the correct way to handle it. Discuss with the group what you learned from the demonstration.

4Assignment #3: Application

Choose a difficult person in your life and add them to your daily prayer list for a week (or beyond!).

Write down the 5 steps in the article on a small piece of paper and carry it with you for a week. What situations come up that you could apply them to? Were they beneficial in how you analyzed the problem?

Identify a few last-minute changes you have had to deal with in your personal, professional or spiritual life. How did you react? What was the outcome?

What do you think you could've done better?

What was the biggest thing you learned from this experience?
